Brenda M.
Private tutor in Wind Lake, WI
Education
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI. I have 12 credits in the Reading Program at Viterbo University. In my experience in the public school, 5 of those years were spent teaching reading to elementary age students.
Experience
Throughout my twenty-five years as an educator, it became evident that reading in the elementary grades is so important! In particular, the genre of Nonfiction text. The ability to read closely and look for evidence is a very difficult skill, if primary skills of breaking the code, or metacognition isn't taught directly in many cases. It's not that kids are slow at reading, they just haven't been taught the skills that will help them be successful.

Hobbies
I am very flexible in my planning. I have experience in keeping records on my reading students, and adjusting accordingly. I will be a flexible tutor for your child, adjusting accordingly. In my spare time, I love to be outdoors. In the spring and summer, I can be fishing and hiking. I love the weather Wisconsin brings. In the fall and winter, I still like to be outdoors, but in winter I am more into snowmobiling than ice fishing. I love the change of season in Wisconsin, and have lived here all my life. I enjoy cooking in my spare time. I like to try to recipes, and read a lot of recipes. I have a collection of recipe books. I have recently retired, so I am hoping to try things that I didn't have time for in the past.
